Cast Iron Mortar & Pestle

I found a really great deal on a cast iron stocking-stuffer or small gift…
It is a cast iron mortar and Pestle, they are perfect for grinding herbs and spices or making pastes in the kitchen. I use mine all the time and this one is very reasonably priced at $14.99. If you have Amazon Prime, there is free 2-day shipping for a few more days so it isn’t too late!

Even if you run out of time before the holidays… It is still neat!

Wicked Edge Knife Sharpening System

Wicked Edge Knife Sharpening System

As a home or professional chef, it is very important to maintain your tools. A sharp knife is much more effective in the kitchen and actually safer to use since a dull knife requires too much force when cutting or doing prep and it can slip, leading to injuries. A sharp knife also keeps fresh ingredients from crushing or bruising and keeps them fresh and tasting better, much longer.

Anthony Bourdain

I was shocked and saddened by the news of Anthony Bourdain’s passing today. He was/is one of my absolute favorite chef’s.
This picture is quite poignant today.

The Smithsonian Institution declared Bourdain “the original rock star” of the culinary world. He was such a fascinating man. He had so many facets, cooking, writing, television, travel, philosophy, addiction and recovery, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Requiescat in pace Chef Bourdain, the world was a better place with you in it and less with you gone.

The late/great Anthony Bourdain

Keto-Friendly Pulled Pork Tacos and Mexican “Rice”

So, I decided to make them using crunchy cheese taco shells instead of carb-heavy shells like are traditionally used. My wife loves them that way and sometimes, the crispy flavorful fried crust calls to me like a siren’s song. This is how I satisfy that craving.
