Jason J Morgan – The Cast Iron Ronin

The Cast Iron Ronin

Why “The Cast Iron Ronin?” – I am a trained martial artist and former full-contact fighter and I am a trained chef under the traditional system of apprenticing under other chefs. A ronin was a samurai with no master and so, no longer an active samurai. I no longer compete in or teach martial arts and I no longer work in restaurants and I cook almost everything in cast iron.

My mother and grandfather were both chefs and I spent years training as child sous-chef at their side. I used to work in the restaurant business and even spent time traveling and fixing broken restaurants before it was cool enough to have a television show. I left the restaurant business to spend more time with my family while my kids were young and now work in IT but I still throw down in the kitchen every day.

I make breakfast for my wife and daughter every morning before we all leave for work or school and I cook supper every evening. I don’t always take pictures of the food but, more often than not, I do.

I cook almost exclusively in cast iron, I really only boil eggs in anything else. So, stay tuned…

Let me know if you have any requests or comments, I love feedback and suggestions.

Keep cooking and stay Ronin!
